If you were a fan of the Spice Girls circa 1997 you may have seen Geri Halliwell hit the stage at the Brit Awards in a Union Jack mini dress, and now, in 2012, it’s back again.
The 39-year-old launched her latest collection for high street chain Next yesterday, made up of designs inspired by her iconic dress, just in time to celebrate the London 2012 olympics. The signature sequin dress that Geri wore to a photocall at London’s 02 arena costs £199 and covers a little bit more flesh than her nineties original, constructed from a tea towel (yes, really).
Spinning off from the dress is a collection of British inspired pieces, including bikinis, tops and dresses. Prices start at £18 and are available from March in selected stores and online at Next.co.uk.
So, are Geri’s designs flying the flag for British style or just a tacky publicity stunt? You decide.
