The world was shaken two weeks ago when jazz singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her Camden flat and now mod brand Fred Perry has decided to go ahead with releasing her next two collections as a tribute. Her autumn/winter 2011 and spring/summer 2012 collections will be made available in stores and online, with all royalties going towards the forthcoming Amy Winehouse Foundation.
Amy, whose cause of death has not yet been confirmed, had been designing with the British sporting brand since 2010 and had three more collections in the pipe line. Her family are said to have given Fred Perry their emotional blessing to go ahead with launching the ranges.
In a statement her father, Mitch Winehouse, said: “When Fred Perry came to us to ask what we would like to do with the new collection it was natural to continue. Amy loved working on both collections and would want them to be made available. All the money we make and the donation that Fred Perry will give will go straight into to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which we are setting up to help children and young people in her name.”
We’re looking forward to honouring Amy through fashion.
