Farrah Fawcett becomes a Barbie doll

Barbie have immortalised another iconic beauty in doll form, re-creating Farrah Fawcett in her famous red-swimsuit poster pose from 1977. The Charlie’s Angels actress, who passed away in 2009 due to cancer, was famous for her blonde voluminous locks and knock-out body – something that is clear from her plastic remake.

The doll was released in July, but is reported to have already sold out at it’s original retail price of $34.95. Proceeds from the dolls go to the Farrah Fawcett Foundation – a cancer research charity set up in the actress’ honour.

Speaking to Fox news, Fawcett’s long-time friend Alana Stewart said: “We’re all very excited about it, it’s a great tribute to her and part of the proceeds go to the foundation to benefit cancer research and help people. Her aim was really to help in cutting-edge research and to help people that are actually struggling with cancer now, so that’s really the mission of the foundation. It’s really wonderful for her memory and for her legacy and for her fans.”

This Barbie doll is definitely not one for the toy box, more for the collectors cabinet…
