Fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu of the Erdem label will be working with choreographer Christopher Wheeldon on a new one-act ballet in tribute to composer Leonard Bernstein.

The designer will create a series of costumes for the ballet, which will run for one month in March – April 2018.

Erdem Moraligoglu said: “Ballet has long been a love and passion of mine. It is a great privilege to be collaborating with the Royal Ballet and I can’t wait to work with their incredible artists. I am especially grateful to be working with the amazing Christopher Wheeldon.”

Moralioglu is the latest designer to create costumes for the stage, joining Mary Katrantzou, and Sarah Burton, who worked with the New York City Ballet in 2014, and Gareth Pugh, who created over 60 opera costumes for Palais Garnier in Paris last year.

Erdem also worked on a ballet project back in 2011 together with other fashion designers, who each created their own version of the tutu.
