Tokyo-based men’s style magazine Clutch has plans to open a retail store and café in Fitzrovia early next year.

Clutch Café will be located at 78-80A Great Portland Street in a 2,000 sq ft retail space. The shop will combine a café with a fashion boutique selling clothing, footwear, and accessories from brands such as Eternal, First Arrow’s, Fullcount, Japan Blue Jeans, and Kato. Neighbours in the surrounding area include Topshop, and Urban Outfitters.

Tom McHugh, director of Thor Retail Advisors who secured the retail lease, said: “We were pleased to be able to secure a long-term lease for Clutch Café in a high footfall location in Fitrzrovia, a buzzing area with historical links to the rag trade.”

Clutch magazine was founded in 2012 to promote high quality timeless products and interesting people from around the world. As well as the printed magazine in Japanese, it publishes features translated into English on its website at clutchmagjapan.com.

The magazine is the latest in a line of media brands that have moved into retail including Wallpaper, Marie Claire, and Wonderland magazines. Clutch Café is set to open in the first quarter of 2018.
