Clarks uses WhatsApp to celebrate Desert Boot anniversary

Clarks is ringing in the 65th birthday of its iconic Desert Boot with a novel WhatsApp-based marketing campaign.

Over the next few weeks, the brand will use Instagram and other social media platforms to broadcast phone numbers, which users can then add to their WhatsApp contact list. In turn, they’ll be connected with famous subculture figureheads from the Desert Boot’s past, including Steve Barrow, a famous Mod, Bruno Barbey, a photographer from the 1960s, and Stitch, a reggae Rudeboy.

By connecting with the each historical character, users will be taken on a first person journey through the rich history of Clarks’ most infamous footwear style.
