Christian Louboutin Exhibition at the Design Museum, London

Christian Louboutin’s retrospective exhibition is about to hit London and we’ve been behind the satin curtains for a first look at the iconic designer’s most coveted designs.

Made up of hundreds of glittering heels, the exhibition looks back on the enviable career of Monsieur Louboutin, whose creations have adorned the feet of everyone from Dita Von Teese to Sarah Jessica Parker. The exhibition space reflects the aesthetics of the brand, with its black painted walls, red patent shoe stages and a lightbulb-lined keyhole entrance. Around the room shoes hang from fairground carousels and the walls are lined with memorable quotes that provide inspiration and insight to Christian’s 20-year career in fashion.

Special collections of shoes are kept in separate spaces, including a room set up like Louboutin’s Parisian studio, a faux garden trestle lined with heels and a ‘shadow show’, where the silhouettes of his skyscraper heels are shown in full glory. But in case the exquisite shoes aren’t enough, a giant and scarily realistic Dita Von Teese hologram takes to the stage, accompanied by a human-sized pair of sparkling heels, dancing around in a corset to keep onlookers entertained.

The Christian Louboutin exhibition runs from 1st May-9th July at the Design Museum, London.
