Fashion big wigs gathered on Thursday night for the official launch party of Covent Garden’s new Burberry Brit store. The night paid homage to British music, with young indie band Life in Film taking to the store’s make-shift stage.
In attendance were Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey, models Lily Donaldson, Poppy Delevigne, Julia Restoin Roitfeld and Amber Atherton and spring 2011 Burberry faces Cara Delevigne, Tali Lennox and Sophie Kennedy-Clark. Each celebrated the opening of the seventh Burberry Brit store since 2009 and the first UK store, which has a heavy focus on all things digital.
The store is optimised for music sets, with enhanced audio technology embedded around store, as well as interactive touch screens planted in the walls and the shop’s sleek chrome and wooden fittings moving to form a stage area. Bailey described the link between music and fashion in the new store, saying, “Music since the beginning has been linked with Brit, so it’s just a natural thing to do to make it a part of this world. It’s a store, but it’s also a venue for young British acts.”
