Monica Vinader, the jewellery brand loved by celebrities including Kylie Minogue and Cara Delevingne, launches a covetable new collection this week. Inspired by the mythical lost city, Atlantis is a range of rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants designed to feel like unearthed hidden treasures, but with the designer’s distinctive contemporary edge.
“Jewellery has been worn and celebrated throughout the centuries,” says CEO and founder Monica Vinader of the inspiration behind the new collection. “Atlantis is all about drawing from history, without creating typical historical reproductions. I wanted to create a collection that brings to life the allure and mystery of lost civilizations, while retaining a modern and luxurious feel.”
The result? A fusion of ultra modern, flat-cut polished gemstones and organic shapes that look like uncovered jewels touched by a thousand hands. Not-to-be-missed pieces include the Atlantis Cuff and Atlantis Flint Ring, as worn by Erin O’Connor at a pre-BAFTA party. The dendritic agate that features in much of the collection contains beautiful tree-like patterns – this particular stone was chosen by actress Anna Kendrick, who wore the Atlantis Flint Ring and Atlantis Cocktail Earrings to the recent Tory Burch AW14 show at New York Fashion Week.
Stylish but effortless to wear and mix with your own pieces, we love the ancient calligraphy-inspired pendants and earrings – they are perfectly in tune with our favourite jewellery trends of the season. The gemstone pieces come in turquoise, lapis and grey agate (as well as the dendritic agate) and are set in sterling silver, 18-karat gold and rose gold-plated vermeil. Each gem is hand-cut to showcase its natural variation, so you’ll be taking home your own unique piece of jewellery.
With prices ranging between £55 and £250, there’s a spring update for everyone that won’t break the bank. Mixing and matching gemstones with the brand’s gold-plated and silver pieces will make the look your own.
