US Vogue editor Anna Wintour has showed her support for equal marriage rights by speaking out as part of the ‘New Yorkers for Marriage Equality’ campaign. A video featuring her speech is set to be aired on the Human Rights Campaign official site www.hrc.org/NY4marriage.
In her video she shares her views, saying: “As far as I’m concerned, having the right to say ‘I do’ is as fundamental as the right to vote. The time is now. Please join me in supporting marriage equality for all New Yorkers.”
Anna is just one of many style icons to lend their support to the cause, with actress Julianne Moore, designers Kenneth Cole and Marc Jacobs being involved in the past.
Gay marriage legislation is set to be passed in New York by current Governor Andrew Cuomo, with a vote being held before the end of June.
