Amazon to launch flash-sale website

E-tail giants Amazon are launching a members only fashion flash-sale website called Myhabit.

The new site will offer shoppers up to 60 per cent off of designer wear from the likes of Doo.Ri, Badgley Mischka and Kenneth Jay Lane jewelry, in four to six flash sales on a daily basis. Forty different events will take place weekly across various categories, including men’s, women’s and children’s wear, as well as footwear, accessories and jewellery.

However, the sales will run on an American time zone, so expect to be up in the middle of the night shopping for designer bargains. The sales will typically last for 72 hours to create a sense of shopping urgency and limited availability, in a similar way to designer discount sites Cocosa and TheOutnet.

The site itself has been described as “a superclean, beautiful site,” by myhabit’s president Maria Renz, which takes a clean and sleek form, featuring top technology such as 360 degree views of models.

Sources say that work on the project started a year ago with a team of 40, including top buyers, planners and editorial staff. The site is currently in the testing stages and is said to be ready to launch soon.
