Acne have teamed up with London-based artist Daniel Silver to launch a colourful, travel inspired capsule collection. Pieces from the range feature exotic and tribal art works by Silver, reflecting his love of Africa.
Daniel grew up in Israel with parents and grandparents who had emigrated from Eastern Europe to South Africa and Zimbabwe, making his life a real mix of cultures. Much of his sculpture and art work illuminates his own heritage as well as remaining modern and relevant.
Acne’s leading man Jonny Johansson said: “The collaboration stemmed from a shoot we did in Daniel’s studio in London, I loved his usage of texture and color – Daniel has a great sensibility for art. So for this capsule collection we used a lot of Daniel’s colors and art works. Fabrics are slightly raw and tribal in style, Daniel has a strong relationship with Africa and so we embraced this in the collection, there is painted leather, a lot of print and a lot of naive texture.”
The collection launched last night with a star-studded party at the brand’s Dover Street store, with the likes of Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and Matt Smith in attendance. View the party snaps in the gallery below.
