My London: Vaishaly Patel – Facialist

INTERVIEWS | | Leave a Comment

First ‘discovered’ by beauty editors and industry insiders, Vaishaly quickly achieved an unrivalled status as ‘The Brows’ of the beauty business for her amazing eyebrow threading. Over time, her rise to international recognition has been accomplished by the extraordinary success of Vaishaly’s Signature Facial, and she is now known the world over as a true ‘Super Facialist’.

With a waiting list currently exceeding three months and a covetable client list including Elle Macpherson, Sophie Dahl, Nigella Lawson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Meg Ryan and Jennifer Garner, it is evident that Vaishaly has something special. With her own unique blend of exceptional technical skills and remarkably intuitive thinking, Vaishaly works with authenticity at every level. Her sensitivity towards energy healing and emotional wellbeing works synergistically with her understanding of diet and lifestyle factors that affect the skin. This is clearly her life’s passion and purpose.

Refreshingly, Vaishaly takes a ‘hands-on’, holistic approach to her business. She goes way beyond the norm in the degree of determination, detail and dedication to everything she touches – from the calm, cocoon-like interiors of her Clinic in London’s fashionable Marylebone set up in 2002, to her signature skincare line and, of course, her clients’ skin.

We caught up with Vaishaly for the latest in our ‘My London’ series.

Favourite neighbourhood:

Beautiful Marylebone. It has fantastic restaurants, bars, clothes shops as well as individual bespoke shops. It has a real ‘village’ atmosphere. You don’t need to go anywhere else as it has everything you need.

Favourite place for brunch:

It would have to be Roka on Charlotte Street. The food and the service is consistently good with a great choice of healthy and delicious food, as well as amazing cocktails! My favourite is their yellowtail sashimi, truffle yuzu dressing, Mizuna and pickled vegetables. I practically live in this place!

Best coffee in London:

Bonne Bouche on Marylebone High Street. I don’t like very strong coffee, and I’ve found this place just gets it right consistently every morning, 7days a week.

Favourite gallery or museum:

We’re very lucky as there are so many incredible galleries and museums in London. But it would probably have to be the British museum. The building itself is very impressive, beautiful architecture with so many things to see and learn about. My favourite place is looking at the mummies.

Tell us a secret:

When you learn to detach and accept, then our mind does not allow us to get any negative emotions like anger, stress, crying etc with everything that is going on in our lives, whether it be personal or business. So no matter what life throws at us, it’s all okay, managable and doable. Everything always works out in the end. With a calm mind we can then think much more clearly and have more peace in our life.

Favourite place to shop:

That would be Matches. They have a fantastic choice of clothing from casual every day items to something perfect for evening wear. I Love their shoe collection too! The staff are fantastic and really know their stuff and are always so helpful. They have a great eye and just know what suits me when I go in. The styles they put together for me always make me feel like a million dollars. They also have beautiful jewellery, so it really is a one stop shop.

Favourite place to find inspiration:

Seeing my acupuncturist and Buddhist teacher Dr Tran, who is my mentor. I always feel so happy, inspired and calm when I leave. I can listen to him for hours talking about the wisdom of life. I am truly blessed to have him in my life.

Best London destination for a date:

The top floor bar at the Mondrian hotel. Super luxurious and sophisticated with the most amazing 360 degree views! Great lounge music, fabulous cocktails (my favourite at the moment is Hibiscus Martini). Very stylish design.

Favourite park:

I adore Regent’s Park. Beautiful greenery, peaceful lake and great restaurants. There’s also a wonderful play area for children and in the summer months the Rose garden is a sight to behold with the most stunning selection of roses. I enjoy the variety of fragrances and colours.

Favourite food market:

I think it would have to be Borough Market. There’s always so much to discover with an eclectic blend of foods from all over the world. Amazing and colourful produce that you never leave empty handed. It’s also a great place for people watching and the atmosphere is always inviting.

Your sanctuary in the city:

There’s an amazing bookstore on Marylebone High Street called Daunt Books. It has a beautiful oak-paneled interior with so many bookshelves to explore and browse. The range is eclectic and I find I can totally escape and always find something new and interesting to read.

What inspires you?

I love walking in nature. Not only is it great for my health and wellbeing, but for me it’s like a form of meditation that allows me to be really ‘present’ and in a space of gratitude. I have great moments of clarity and find it the perfect environment to mentally de-stress and set goals for my business and personal life.

This season I’m loving:

I absolutely adore the classic monogram YSL college bag in dove white Matelasse leather. It’s so stylish and chic with a metal chain and removable shoulder strap so very versatile. It’s the perfect size for carrying my hand-bag essentials and going from day to night.
