After a background in the Tourism industry, Emilie Lhoste founded Louison d’Or in 2013 in London.
Half French, half Italian Emilie enjoys a large field of inspirations wishing to create things, to realise ideas and make them with passion.
With her love for different materials such as coated cotton, faux fur and leather, she designs her collections of unique and handmade items ranging from bags and wash bags to collars, scarves and cushions.
For those looking for something really special, Louison d’Or offers high-quality products that will suit every age and style.
We caught up with Emilie for the latest in our ‘My London’ interview series.
Richmond-Twickenham, where I live. I love walking along the Thames. The Twickenham Riverside is exceptional, from Eel Pie Island where artists and musicians have their studios till Richmond you can take some peaceful walks along the Embankment. You can admire the sights along the way, such as York House and Marble Hill House.
Favourite place for brunch:
Petersham Nurseries – after the riverside long walk you arrive directly there….another bucolic place where you can appreciate homemade cakes and seasonal food in a glasshouse.
Best coffee in London:
Books for Cooks in Notting Hill, I love the smell.
Favourite gallery or museum:
V&A, I love the Architecture and all the temporary exhibitions related to fashion and music. In May/June I plan to visit Pink Floyd and Balenciaga.
Tell us a secret:
I am a fighter, as my ancestor Jacques Francois de Chastenet de Puysegur Marechal de France under Louis IX.
Favourite place to shop:
All the independent retail shops where you will find unique and limited editions of gifts and clothing like All original in Ealing, Craft Coop in Maidenhead, March in Fulham.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
With my international family we travel a lot, I am very curious and I like to discover all the art work in each town or village I visit. I meet artists, we talk about our own experiences and I discover new fabrics and patterns that inspire me. I always come back with extra luggage.
Best London destination for a date:
The Connaught Bar with a stylish décor, a cosy and warm atmosphere and the best cocktail ever with their legendary Connaught Martini Trolley.
Richmond park is my favourite, almost every Sunday we go for a dog walk in this amazing park where we admire exceptional trees and beautiful deers.
Favourite food market:
Farmer’s market in Twickenham every Saturday.
Your sanctuary in the city:
My home is my sanctuary and my workshop is my bubble.
What inspires you?
I am always inspired by people, culture, nature. I am half French, half Italian living in UK, I believe these 3 countries give me the inspiration. Dolce vita and design from Italy, elégance and romanticism from France and finally the Dynamism and creativity from England! I am lucky I love these countries so much!
This season I’m loving:
Colours! They give energy and a good mood! I love to see people displaying and assuming their personal and original style because I think it gives fun and a sense of freedom.
