Top 10 Shops in Old Spitalfields Market

Old Spitalfields Market is one of London’s most popular markets and has run on the same site for over 350 years.

It’s a great place to shop for antiques, vintage fashion, and gourmet food. There are also several boutiques surrounding the main market, offering the best in contemporary designer gear and lifestyle products.

 

1. Collectif

Collectif started as a market stall and now have their own store, selling original designs inspired by ‘40s and ‘50s vintage, retro, and pin-up fashion. New fashion trends are combined with vintage style for a look that’s glamorous, fun, and unique. The collection includes dresses, separate, shoes, bags, and accessories.

Open 10am – 6.30pm Monday to Sunday.

 

2. In Spitalfields

Gift and homewares store, In Spitalfields, offers an eclectic selection of furniture, lifestyle goods, and gifts that are fun to browse any time. There’s a nice selection of well-designed London themed gifts for those looking for a souvenir that’s a bit different from the usual tourist tat and homewares range in price from £5 for a poster to over £1,000 for some items of furniture. There’s basically something for everyone here.

3. Flying Tiger

Danish retailer Flying Tiger offers a bright and colourful collection of homewares, gadgets, stationery, games, sweets, and party wares. If you’re looking for an unusual gift with a humorous touch you’ll find it here.

Open 10am – 7pm Monday to Saturday and 11am – 6pm Sunday.

 

4. Belstaff

Luxury British heritage brand Belstaff sells men’s and women’s fashion inspired by adventure. The company started out in 1924 producing motorcycle jackets and supplied parachutes and aviator suits for World War II. Motorcycle jackets are still available today, alongside a full clothing collection for men and women with a hint of biker chic.

5. Mercantile

The Mercantile boutique stocks premium fashion brands for men and women including Wood Wood, Dr Denim, Hudson, Deus Ex Machina, Rose Rankin, Soeur, and Royal Republic. As well as clothing, there’s also a nice selection of homewares, gifts, jewellery, and apothecary items.

6. Rag & Bone

American fashion label Rag & Bone was founded in New York in 2002 and fuses British heritage tailoring with modern and edgy design. The store stocks the latest designs for men and women, alongside a fine fragrance collection.

7. Cheaney

Cheaney sells men’s and women’s handcrafted footwear for formal, business, and casual occasions in a range of styles from classic to contemporary. Joseph Cheaney & Sons was founded in 1886 and are still made at the same Northamptonshire factory. Shoes and boots are made from fine leathers and suedes with Goodyear welted technology. There’s also a complimentary polishing service available.

Open 10am – 7pm Monday to Friday, 10am – 6pm Saturday, and 10am – 5pm Sunday.

 

8. Albam

Albam is a contemporary menswear brand focusing on timeless wardrobe staples with a focus on high quality fabrics, details, and finishing. There’s also a curated selection of other lifestyle products on offer from other brands including shoes, books, bags, and homewares.

9. Zadig & Voltaire

French label Zadig & Voltaire was established in 1997 by Thierry Gillier, the co-founder of Lacoste. The collections include men’s women’s and children’s ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories, and fragrances. The style revolves around jeans, boots, and leather jackets.

10. Gandys

The Gandys brand was founded in order to support the charity Orphans for Orphans by Rob and Paul Forkan, who lost their parents in the 2004 Tsunami. The collection is inspired by travel and includes clothing, backpacks, flip flops, round towels, and sunglasses.
