London Fashion Week: Michael Van Der Ham

LONDON FASHION WEEK | NEWS | | Leave a Comment

There’s something about Michael Van Der Ham’s autumn/winter 2012 collection that shouldn’t have worked, but the crazy mix-up of patterns, prints and textured ran smoother than ever.

Sequins tops with leaf print skirts? Granny jumpers over satin dresses? Huge leopard prints mixed with midnight blue satin and fussy floral accents? What was he thinking? Even though these combinations may sound a bit confused, each mis-matched element worked in harmony  to create a unique and surprisingly simple collection. The balance of bare legs and minimal accessories turned each look into a masterpiece instead of a disaster, with just sleek Hollywood hair left to compliment each style.

The Dutch NewGen designer has quickly progressed from underdog to king of the fashion pack since starting out in 2010 and it’s clear to see why – his unique designs are a breath of fresh air for the fashionistas quickly growing tired of minimalism.
