Top 10 Anna Wintour Quotes from The September Issue

American Vogue magazine’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, is one of fashion’s more formidable characters. Her demanding attitude and intimidating personality have earned her the nicknames “Ice Queen” and “Nuclear Wintour”. She is regarded as one of the most powerful people in fashion, with wide-reaching influence in fashion circles and beyond.

Wintour’s former assistant, Lauren Weisberger wrote the book, The Devil Wears Prada, which then became a popular movie adaptation staring Meryl Streep. Many believed the fictional editor in the movie, who reduced her staff to tears on a daily basis, was based on Anna Wintour.

The Hollywood version of events may be entertaining, but it seems that the truth is actually stranger than fiction. In 2009, a documentary film, The September Issue, follows Anna Wintour and the other staff at Vogue in their preparations for publication of the September 2007 issue of the magazine. After seeing the reality of life at the magazine and a glimpse into Wintour’s real personality, it’s clear that she could give the fictional character a run for her money.

The September Issue certainly does not disappoint in living up to its reputation of being ‘The Real Devil Wears Prada’. Wintour is on top form, delivering some scathing commentary over the course of the 90-minute film.
